Barcelona, Spain
Why do we think Barcelona is great for conference management? Well, it’s arguably the cultural capital of Spain and offers the best of both worlds – an incredible cityscape, along with easy access to stunning beaches. At No.2 on Cvent's hitlist of top European meeting destinations, Barcelona is known for its art and architecture. This beautiful area of Spain is a treasure trove of modernist landmarks and offers a versatile range of event spaces suitable for business events of any size.
With stunning hotels such as Hotel Arts Barcelona positioned perfectly between the stunning beachfront and the bustling centre, you can remain central to the most sought-after areas of the city. Barcelona is home to the Sagrada Familia, Montserrat, and the Gothic Quarter – each completely unique to ensure your trip is varied and versatile.
Barcelona’s versatility doesn’t stop there. Its incredible potential for conferences and meetings comes from plenty of spaces and venues that can cater for both small and large groups. The Casa Llotja de Mar offers a range of event spaces for up to 710 people, and sits convinietly on the seafront of the historic centre.
Visiting such a famous city would be wasted without immersing yourself in its culture – and Barcelona has plenty of it. Take a walk down the lively Las Ramblas to experience an abundance of music, art, cuisine and fun! From tapas to sangria, human statues and theatre shows, there’s no way you’ll be bored during your free time. Be sure to end the night at the world-famous Pacha nightclub and dance until the sun comes up.
Budapest, Hungary
Budapest is steeped in historical beauty through its ancient-style architecture and rich culture, which makes it a desirable destination for 2018 when it comes to conference management. It’s a short-haul trip, and an ideal choice of location for those wanting to host an overseas conference that also offers potential for excursions and activities. The intricate detail in the building work and traditionally-designed interiors means that the venues available are a beautiful addition to the entire event.
Stay at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Budapest for a luxurious place of relaxation and respite after time spent exploring history. Amongst the ancient architecture is a wide range of modern cosmopolitan events spaces and venues such as Kempinkski Cornivus, a high-end 5* hotel with an array of meeting rooms for various group sizes.
Spend your leisure time making the most of the stunning neo-gothic and neo-Romanesque Fisherman’s Bastion, a beautiful terrace on the Castle Hill, and pay a visit to the historical Buda Castle to make the most of a short stay in Budapest.
Liverpool, UK
Having worked in Liverpool multiple times with various clients, we’re fully aware of what it has to offer business events, conferences and meetings. Along with being 2008’s European Capital of Culture, Liverpool is home to a variety of iconic hotels and venues that work together to create the ideal professional event.
Liverpool boasts a number of impressive conference and meeting venues, including the ACC and Exhibition Centre Liverpool – two interconnected venues that play host to a wide range of prestigious events every year. The venues are well connected to the Pullman Hotel, which sits on the famous waterfront and is just minutes away from must-see attractions such as the Beatles Story and The Cavern Club.
As well as being steeped in history, Liverpool’s cosmopolitan offering is equally as impressive, with an abundance of elegant restaurants and lively bars situated closely to venues and hotels. Chain offerings such as Fazenda, Neighbourhood and Chaopraya highlight the popularity of the location, with plenty of independent bars and eateries available for a more ‘off-the-beaten-track’ encounter.
Being event industry leaders, we understand that no matter what your goals and objectives are for your business event, Liverpool is an ideal short-haul destination providing everything you could ever need.
Cape Town, South Africa
Despite being known for its wildlife and scenery, Cape Town is equally as popular as a conference management destination due to its populous urban landscape and multitude of event venues, hotels and facilities. The stunning backdrop provided by Cape Town’s glorious scenery is visible around the entire city, making most venues stand out as impressive places to hold a conference or business event.
World-class venues such as Cape Town City Hall and The Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel offer a variety of event spaces, with the latter also being part of a world-renowned hotel chain, providing luxurious accommodation and superb facilities in a number of locations globally.
On top of an impressive selection of conference and meeting venues, the breath-taking scenery of the South Peninsula, Cape of Good Hope, and Table Mountain make for incredible adventures exploring Cape Town’s natural beauty. The modern side of the Western Cape isn’t lacking either, and makes the centre of the city a perfect hub for entertainment, dining, shopping and culture.
New York City, USA
The Big Apple is the perfect way to experience a well-known cityscape – even when it’s work-related! With Wall St being one of the most famous financial districts in the world, there’s no wonder it’s in such high demand as a venue and conference destination.
Arguably the most famous city in the world, New York is a sought-after location for work and pleasure alike, so combining the two has never been so easy. Stay in the exuberant JW Marriot Essex House or Mandarin Oriental Hotel for a taste of cosmopolitan luxury and sumptuous comfort for a relaxing stay.
The majority of hotels in New York City also offer a variety of meeting spaces for a range of group sizes, meaning it’s ideal for conference management. However, the contemporary Spring Studios offer modern, state-of-the-art event spaces that reflect the cosmopolitan NYC lifestyle.
And of course, the potential for activities and excursions in such a developed and historically-rich city is endless. Well-known tourist attractions such as the Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Centre and the Oneworld Observatory make for essential stops. However, the lesser known Brooklyn and Bushwick neighbourhoods, as well as Chelsea Markets and Central Park can add a less predictable view of the city.
As New York is ever changing and evolving, it’s important to ensure you are aware of the latest developments in event space and hospitality offerings. Recently we sent one of our Account Managers to find out what 2017’s New York has to offer. Read what she found here…
