Meet our new Senior Account Manager, Kerry!
Our newest recruit, Kerry Saxby, recently joined us as a Senior Account Manager and has brought along a wealth of experience spanning 12 years in the event industry. We sat down with Kerry and found out more about her time in the industry.
Tell us more about your time in the event industry so far
I've spent 12 years working in the event industry for a handful of renowned international agencies, all of which have given me valuable experience delivering 100s of events across a broad range of various industries.
What first attracted you to First Event?
I already knew of First Event due to their brilliant reputation in the event industry after ranking in the Top 50 Agencies over the past few years, and being renowned for delivering amazing events in fantastic locations. The team were so welcoming, and there is a really great atmosphere and sense of community in the office.
What has been your favourite event highlight so far?
I can't possibly choose just one highlight, but there's definitely a few from past events. I worked on a conference and incentive event in India and Vietnam, which was an amazing experience and unlike any event I have ever worked on before.
"We organised an amazing evening party on the beach at Ha Long Bay, and even chartered a private plane to the Taj Mahal!"
I've also worked in a lot of glamourous event destinations (which I loved!) including Ibiza, St. Tropez, and Pulia - all which provided incredible settings for fabulous and unforgettable party evenings.
Another event highlight was definitely learning how to fly a plane - and even loop-the-loop - with a Red Arrow pilot! Terrifying, but a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I absolutely loved being a part of!
Where has been your all-time favourite destination? Whether work or leisure?
My all-time favourite destination was the Clayoqout Wilderness Retreat, which I visited on one of my very first FAM trips. It can only be reached from Vancouver Airport by seaplane, so before you get there, it's already clear that wherever you'll be staying is very exclusive!
"When I arrived at the retreat, I was so excited I was literally jumping on the bed! It was immediately the most amazing place I'd ever been to!"
Being so close to nature was absolutely breath-taking, and we were able to take part in whale watching and bear watching in their natural habitats - which was incredible! The luxurious tent accommodation also meant that star-gazing was a must, and of course, was another dream-like addition to the perfect trip!
Where is currently at the top of your bucket list?
There's so many things I'd love to see and do, but Rwanda is currently at the top of my bucket list! Even though it's a small country, it has so much to offer, and the scenery is incredibly beautiful! I'd love to go gorilla trekking and see the Rwandan Mountain gorillas in their natural habitat!
